THE CLINIC

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. Life happens, and I understand that more than anyone. If you can no longer attend, please cancel 24 hours before your scheduled appointment to allow your spot to be filled. Please contact me directly or on the booking website. If you do not allow 24 hours before cancelling or rescheduling, you will be charged a $50 fee.

Q. What are the hours?

A. Each week is different! Please check out my schedule on the booking app. If you can’t find an appointment on there, you can connect with me directly (via text, email, Instagram, or messenger) and I’ll find a spot for you!

Q. Is the clinic mobility accessible?

A. Unfortunately, No Filter is in the lower level of a larger aesthetics spa, and there are stairs. I apologize for any issue this causes.

Q. Where can I park?

A. There are 4 parking spaces in the back of the clinic. If those are full, there is street parking behind that. Be cognizant of the signs that show times when street parking isn’t allowed.

Q. Where do I go after I park?

A. Walk around to the front of the building and come on in, no need to knock. Please take off your shoes, grab a pair of slippers (if you wish), have a seat in the reception area and I will come get you at your appointment time.

Q.  I want a treatment but I’m really afraid of needles. Should I go through with it?

A. That is no problem! As a nurse at SickKids, I work with children for a living so I’m very good at putting my clients at ease. I’ll walk you through the whole process, there is no rush so we will go at your pace. Plus I have the cutest stress balls for you to squeeze as hard as you’d like! Lol.

Q. Do I have to wear a mask?

A. This is at your own discretion at this point! I’m happy to mask up as well if you’d like me to. Just ask.

Q. Can I bring a support person?

A. Yes, I have room in my spa for one support person should you need them.

Q. What are your cleaning protocols?

A.  All high touch areas are thoroughly disinfected between clients.

Q. What if I have questions after my treatment?

A. Contact via text is the easiest way to get ahold of me. Please keep in mind that text messages are not confidentially secured for personal and medical conversations. If you feel like you’re having an urgent situation please don’t wait, contact me ASAP via phone (226-499-5050) or email (info@nofiltermedspa.ca).

Q. Which payment methods do you accept?

A. Credit, debit, or etransfer. Cash is also acceptable, although not preferred.

Q. Do you accept tips?

A. Although a lovely gesture (thank you!), the best compliment/thank you I can get is a referral to your friends, family and colleagues! 🙂

Q. Do you sell gift cards?

A. Yes! Paper gift cards are available for purchase at the spa.

HYPERHIDROSIS

Q. What is Hyperhidrosis?

A. Characterized by excessive sweating. There are 2 types: Primary (no known cause and occurs on both sides of the body) and secondary (a side effect of some disease processes or a medication side effect).

Q. Is this treatment covered by insurance?

A. Many times, yes! Please contact your insurance company to find out if you qualify. Often times you must have tried and failed 1 topical treatment (creams, wipes, or gels) to qualify for neuromodulator treatment. If you need a preapproval form filled out please contact No Filter and we can arrange to help with that.

Q. What does the treatment involve?

A. A “sweat test” will be performed. This involves dabbing on iodine tincture with corn starch on top to the affected area. The overactive sweat glands will then turn a dark color and let me know what areas need treated. I will wipe that off, apply a topical numbing cream and let you chill for 5-7 minutes. A 1 cm grid will be drawn on to guide the treatment areas. Neuromodulator (Botox or Dysport) will be injected to each grid area using a very small needle.

Q. Will I need follow up?

A. You will come back to the clinic 2 weeks post treatment to repeat the sweat test and determine treatment effectiveness. At the 2 month period following treatment I will reach out to determine efficacy.

Q. What are the pre treatment directions?

A. No antiperspirants for 24 hours prior. No blood thinning medications (aspirin, NSAIDs, alcohol) for 72 hours prior to appointment. Underarm hair will have to be shaved or trimmed so the area can be visualized.

Q. What are the post care instructions?

A. Keep the area clean and dry for 2 hours then antiperspirants can be applied. Avoid strenuous activity, high heat (hot tubs, saunas) and blood thinning medications for 24 hours post treatment

Q. What is the onset and duration?

A. You will notice effectiveness starting 5 days post treatment with full effect at 14 days. Results typically last about 6 months, and up 12 months. Results are expected, but not guaranteed.

Q. What areas can be treated and how much does it cost?

A. See Services page.

DOUBLE CHIN

Q. How does it work?

A. Deoxycolic acid (a naturally occurring acid in the body) is injected into the subcutaneous fat, which breaks down the fat cells to be metabolized and excreted by the body.

Q. What are the pre treatment instructions?

A. No alcohol 12 hours prior to your appointment. No blood thinning medications 3 days prior. Please arrive without makeup on. Plan to have your treatment 2-4 weeks prior to an event to allow for bruising and swelling to resolve. Please shave the treatment area the night prior to your appointment.

Q. What are the post care instructions?

A. No blood thinning medications 3 days after your procedure. You can use Tylenol and ice for comfort. No exercise or high heat (hot tubs, saunas) for the rest of the day. Stay upright for 2 hours. Don’t touch or manipulate the area, this can create further swelling and/or infection. No face creams or makeup for the rest of the day.

Q. What are the side effects?

A. Most common are mild to moderate swelling for 3-5 days, bruising and pain. Swelling is expected, which means the treatment is working!

Does it hurt?

A. There will be a numbing cream applied before the injections. A small needle is used and patients report a burning or “spicy” sensation while the medication is being injected. This usually lasts for about 30 minutes post treatment. You will experience some soreness over the next couple days. Ice for comfort (not swelling) and Tylenol (not Advil) will help.

Q. Is it permanent?

Yes, unless you gain a significant amount of weight post treatment.

Q. How many treatments do I need?

A. You will need a consultation to determine but will fall between 2-6 treatments.

Q. How often do I need treatment?

A. Come back to the clinic every 5 weeks until desired effect has been achieved.

Q. How soon will I see results?

A. The medication will slowly break down the fat cells over the 5 week period in between treatments.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. See services page.

Q. Who is not a candidate?

A. Thyroid cancer treatment within the last year, swollen lymph nodes, infection or skin breakdown in the treatment area, pregnant or breastfeeding, bleeding disorder, history of swallowing difficulties, and kidney or liver dysfunction.
